Lee V-Day 14, Workout, Shopping, Movie, & another stealth violation

Day 14, 2 June

Great day of activities and dining, but alas, another stealth vegan violation! The day began very well with a great night of sleep followed by more than an hour of slow run/jog around my hotel area during the morning before the day started to bear the effects of the Texas sun in late spring. My Marriott has a full breakfast buffet each morning and I am able to navigate the wide range of tasty, preferred choices (biscuits and gravy, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs...with gravy, etc.) for other tasty, diet compliant choices. This morning, I had plenty of fruit (banana, melon, cantaloupe) and breakfast bean taco with coffee. I had promised my daughters that we would have a "summer clothes shopping" expedition and so we travelled to New Braunfels along with two of my older daughter's best friends (shopping consultants) to shop at Belk's (see picture below) and Kohl's. Great shopping expedition and deals...I even picked up a few things for myself!

Our final shopping stop was at Belk's, right next to the Creekside Movie Theater, and so our capstone event was to see the new X-Men: Days of Future Past movie. Great movie and my past snack experience at the move theater facilitated an easy choice of Coke Zero and a large, plain-salted pretzel. After the movie, on the way home with the dinner time period looming, the stealth vegan violation presented itself. Some of the girls wanted drive-thru at Whataburger and the rest wanted Burger King. Since both restaurants were within a minute of each other, I opted to pass through Whataburger first and then Burger King. My choices at Burger King were intended to be diet compliant: water, small fries, and Burger King's Veggie Burger (no cheese, pickles, onions, sauce); however, later this week, after-action-reviewing my choices, I found that Burger King uses Morningstar Veggie Patties...and while the Morningstar website conveys high veggie content, alas, egg whites and some sort of milk extract is also included (see list from website):

  1. Yes, it's the same with the veggie patty from Subway. If you want a tasty vegan option, go with BOCA products... they have both vegetarian and vegan options.

    1. Cool! Thank you. ...I actually liked the taste of the sandwich (not quite as much as the regular burger), but trying to stay compliant... : )
